Every Wallflower Has An Origin Story
I have a confession.
My love affair with historical romance probably began a little earlier than it should have.
Shhh! Don’t tell, but when I was growing up, my sister – who’s seven years older than I am – always had a stack of historical romances nearby. Somewhere along the way, I started “borrowing” them. Whether she willingly shared them or I quietly helped myself has become a little fuzzy over the years. Let’s just say I was reading some rather steamy historical romances long before anyone would have called them age-appropriate.
Those early books introduced me to some of the trailblazers of historical romance, and I’ve been happily escaping into the genre ever since. Decades later, my bookshelves are still overflowing, my Kindle is permanently overworked, and I’m still telling myself, “Just one more chapter.”
(We all know how that story ends.)
Eventually I grew up and – quite by accident – found a career in the travel industry, where I’ve now spent more than 40 years helping people see the world.
I spent years walking through castles, country estates, gardens, and medieval villages that felt strangely familiar…because I’d already visited them hundreds of times in the pages of historical romance novels.
Somewhere along the way, I realized I wasn’t just visiting beautiful places – I was walking through the very kinds of settings that had captivated me since I first discovered historical romance.
House of Wallflowers grew naturally from those two lifelong passions: a love of travel and a lifelong love of historical romance.
Why “House of Wallflowers”?
Because every great historical romance has a wallflower. She’s often underestimated, quietly observant, and far more interesting than people realize. And somehow, she’s usually the one with the best story. It felt like the perfect name for a place where readers who love this remarkable genre could gather.
